Manel Sanromà (born 1956) is Ph.D. in Physics (University of Barcelona 1982). He has hold different grants of research in Spain and the United States. Former professor of Physics at the Polytechnic University of Catalunya and Astronomy at the University of Barcelona
Currently he is Full Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona, Spain.
In 2007 he obtained a Bachelor Degree in Humanities from the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) and a Master Degree in E-Health from the same University. During the last decade he has shared his teaching at the University with several positions related to IT implementation.
From 1999-2001 he was director of the Consortium for the Information Society of the Regional Government of Tarragona. From 2001 to 2004 he was director of the Open Administration of Catalonia, the main E-Government project in Catalonia. From 2005 till 2011 he was the CIO of a Health Services Consortium in Tarragona.
Since July 2011 he is the CIO of Barcelona City Council. From that position he has been responsible for the Smart Cities and Innovation programs of the City.
As CIO of Barcelona he has lead the teams that achieved successes such as the City been nominated the 2014 European Innovation Capital by the European Union; the Bloomberg Philantropies Mayors Challenge Award; and the Global Smart City 2015 award by Juniper Research.
He has published dozens of articles and several books on its two main activities throughout the years, namely Astronomy and the applications of the Internet. He was the creator of the first Community Network in Spain, TINET (Tarragona InterNET).
Between 1999 and 2002 he served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Internet Society (ISOC).
In 2001 the national magazine El Mundo included him as one of the most influential Spaniards in the development of the Internet. He is currently Chairman of the City Protocol Society, representing Barcelona. The CPS is an international organization of Cities, Industry and Academia aiming at fostering common and shared solutions in the application of Technology to Cities.
He is a member of different scientific and professional associations, among others the International Astronomical Union, the Catalan Society of Mathematics and the Internet Society.

Jon Matonis was Executive Director of the Bitcoin Foundation until December 2014 and served as a board director for the group from its 2012 inception to the time he assumed the executive director position in 2013.
He is considered the foremost authority on virtual currencies, private currencies, and burgeoning e-money instruments such as Bitcoin, Gridcoin, social game credits, and stored value.
Matonis is a board advisor to start-ups in: bitcoin, cryptography, gaming, mobile and prepaid. His career has included senior influential posts at Sumitomo Bank, VISA where he was Chief Forex Trader, VeriSign, and Hushmail where he was CEO.
He also provides e-money consulting services to companies on alternative currency programs, bitcoin processing, compliance, jurisdiction selection, monetization strategies, risk management, and virtual currency platforms.
His work on digital cash has been published by Dow Jones and the London School of Economics. Matonis is also a columnist at Forbes Magazine, American Banker, and CoinDesk. He is Editor of The Monetary Future, a leading economics blog at the intersection of free banking, cryptography, and digital currency.

Prof. MD. Jan Pirk, MD. (* 1948) is the head of the Cardio-center Clinic and Cardiovascular Surgery Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague. He started his career in 1972 at the Nymburk surgery in hospital. At the age of thirty-five, he traveled to the USA, where he spent a year on an internship in New Orleans. In 1990 graduated by annual practice at University Hospital in Denmark. Professor Pirk as a leading expert in cardiac surgery transplanted most of the hearts in Czech Republic.
The head of the Cardio-center ICEM became Manager of the Year in healthcare. One of the most interesting facts for Czech medicine history was year 2007, where Jan Pirk has performed a unique operation, during which the patient transplanted two lungs and heart at the same time. It was a procedure that was performed in the Czech Republic for the first time, and also in the world with such operations only makes about eighty per annum.
On top of this movement, he promotes a healthy way of life, and he is still an active athlete – long-haul runs, cycling and participates in triathlons. The rest of free time with family and cottage. And he also likes to say: “Let us follow the voice of your heart”.

In 2009 Sedláček joined the government’s National Economic Council (NERV), where he served as public finance guarantor starting in 2011. He also acts as chief macroeconomic strategist for ČSOB (a large Czech bank) and Board member of the Anticorruption Endowment Fund and is the author of the book Economics of Good and Evil. Sedláček spent part of his childhood living abroad, had an international education and is involved in a large number of activities and positions, making him a prominent and active figure on the economic scene in the Czech Republic and internationally.

For the past several years Michael Carvan has been grappling with one of the most pressing issues of our time, namely waste processing and dwindling drinking water supplies. Carvan’s water purifying equipment can even transform pig slurry into drinking water and make the solids into pellets with the same heating value as wood. His process is one of the most efficient in the world. Carvan invests a great deal of energy into raising global awareness and sees potential for his mechanisms in a wide range of industries, everywhere from agriculture to traveling to Mars – which happens to be the subject of his current project Hydronaut.

Tomáš Pojar spent ten years working at the humanitarian NGO People in Need (Člověk v tísni), eight of those as its director. In 2005 he began working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Minister for Bilateral Relations and First Deputy Minister for Security, EU Affairs and Bilateral Relations with European Countries. In 2010 – 2014 Pojar served as Czech Ambassador to Israel. He is also an outspoken critic of “political correctness” and populism. He also provides influential commentary on the Czech Republic’s foreign policy.

As Director of the Internet OnLine Division Šubert oversaw the creation and launch of the first commercial Internet service in the Czech Republic.

Tomáš Budník has been working in telecommunications for more than twenty years and his wide-ranging experience and skills make him one of the most well-rounded figures in telecommunications today. He has worked at Inec, Český Telecom and GTS, where he held a number of management positions in sales, marketing, customer care and regulation. In GTS he then moved over to the technical side and took on responsibility for planning, building, expanding and operating the telecommunications network. He also oversaw the reorganization at MobilKom, operator of the U:fon network. In 2011 he came in as a consultant and advisor to the PPF group, from July 2014 is the CEO of O2.
